Prior to her appointment as a Court of Protection Visitor (formerly Lord Chancellor’s Visitor) in1996, Kathi worked for over fourteen years throughout the Court Service and in various areas of the Ministry of Justice. Given her 23 years of experience visiting clients of the Court of Protection she has an understanding of the needs of those with enduring mental health problems, learning disabilities, dementia and acquired brain injury. She has wide experience of working with people who lack capacity to manage their financial affairs, as well as supporting those persons appointed to manage the financial affairs of another. Kathi is fully appraised in the practices and procedures of both the Court of Protection and the Office of the Public Guardian. She is currently supporting a number of local authority and solicitor Deputies in the discharge of their responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
